Route Description
Access to Put-In Information:

Paved road to Hay River. From there to Fort Smith paved except 110km. Similar to YK. Ferry across Mackenzie R. no problem

Technical Guide:

Air Charter from Fort Smith or YK. Flight 2 1/2 hours.
Drop on lake, possible portage around lake ice. Clarke has numerous rapids (chutes), mostly rock gardens rated 1.5 to low 2's. Depending on water level four of five of them need to be lined. Count three to six days on Clarke. Most scenic part of the trip. Pick up from Thelon or Beverly Lake.

Trip Journal/Log/Report/Diary:

Clarke needs to be done early in season (late June) as it is lagely snow fed and tends to run out of water in July.
Thelon Narrows a short distance down from Clarke confluence: In high water big rollers. In low water no rollers at all. Remainder is flatwater, but expect high winds.
