Route Description
Access to Put-In Information:

Fly-in from Points North or make it a longer trip by ascending the Chipman Portage and paddling Selwyn Lake to the start of the Porcupine River

Technical Guide:

Remote river in northern Saskatchewan. Rarely traveled. Fly in to Selwyn Lake and fly out from where Fond-du-Lac empties into Black Lake. Option to paddle Black Lake and exit from Stony Rapids.

Rapids can be big depending on water level, but usually straight through rapids. Four waterfalls and one day of continuous rapids near the end and junction with the Fond-du-Lac.

Special Comments:

Great fishing especially in rapids above the four waterfalls. Fish are large, maybe even trophy class.

Portaging is a mix of woodland trails and open humps over sparcely treed rock.

Remoteness is key factor here. Should have well-developed canoeing and camping skills.
