Looks like it was a great trip.

I did the 18 mile island trip last July on the French and had a great time. It was a good introduction to running rapids, lining, wading, etc.

The route you took seems like it has far fewer cottages though. I like the black bears, too!

The route we took has a few cottages but not many. And the power boats we saw, were while were we in transit. The campsites we used were private and for the most part free of unwanted noise or other campers. Sabine Island is just a gem, and Vixen Island (north cmpsite) creates the illusion of isolation because the cove is narrow, the sides are steep, so it's like a little mini-world all to itself, with it's own little private lagoon protected by shoals on both entry points
