This is a fly-in, paddle to the train trip. Five of us drove from Maine to Lab City, Air Saguenay's Otter flew us 80km to Lac Bellenger. We camped at the SW end of lake. The southern shore has great peaks to hike. The river, no name, flows NE through many (30) CL1-4 rapids, and lakes to Menihek Lake. The lakes include, Milner, Square, and Clark. This is similar to the Macphayden, we did in 2012. This years trip seemed more varied, and less long stretches of flatwater. There is extensive lining due to the length of some rapids, and the upper river water levels. The upper part is small, fun in our one solo boat. The folks at Esker were very nice, and helpful. The train seems more important now with the reopening of the Schefferville mine. This is a beautiful river and area, with many possibilities.
