Route Description
Technical Guide:

Canoe George Lake to Freeland Lake, Nice dock take out with 50 meter portage, Paddle up Freeland Lake To Killarny Lake, slightly muddy take out. 430 meter portage to Killarny Lake nicely wooded with a small falls to your left as you trek towards Killarny lake. Paddle up Killarny Lake past narrows and head southwest towards OSA take first portage at Southwest end of
Killarny Lake, 500 meter mostly dry, somewhat uphill portage. AH OSA Lake What Else can one say, well paddle like heck cause you've still got to cover the entire length of OSA to the southwest end, don't forget to pay hommage to the lonely artists pine on the way through. Made it to the West End of OSA? Well that just leaves one very muddy take out and one last portage into Muriel Lake, did we mention that this was also the longest portage yet? only 850 meters when the water level is low although rumor has it that it is only about 450 meters when water levels are up, when were not sure but it might happen, till then count on 850 and you won't be disappointed. Did we mention the hill, for those vertically challenged canoeheads I suggest you either wear extra padding or ride your canoe to the bottom, as one of our party did. Only minor injuries, yes you are now at Muriel lake hope you've left some daylight you've still got 20 minutes of paddling to the first camp site, another 5 to the next one (only 2 on Muriel) Reward for your hard work is the beatiful view from near perfect camp sites on a very secluded little lake, and we hope you took notice of the scenery on the way in although if you missed anything you can always catch it on the way back. although we'd recommend a slightly more relaxed trip back to George Lake.

Special Comments:

Did this trip on Thanksgiving Weekend 2010, and it was amazing between fall colors and the weather and Killarny's beatiful scenery and yes we had Turkey Dinner with all the fixings on OSA lake.
