We took 7 days including a day trip up to Hansen to see the pictographs. The last 2 long portages out to the road are the hardest with just enough climbing & mud to let you know you are on a real portage & not a walk in the woods. The others are numerous but easy. Portages are well marked. Saw no people on most days and only one or two on other days. Last week of August & we had almost no bugs. Most portages are along a small rapids or waterfall to the next lake. Very scenic. Very interesting & quiet trip. Camp sites were clean & good except for aluminum foil in the fire pits. Good Moose habitat on Mexican Hat & Glenn & we saw 1 bull moose. Also good sandy beaches for a refreshing dip.
