Back on the May long weekend a friend and I paddled the Main Southwest Miramichi from Half Moon Pit to Boisetown. I'd been wanting to do this trip for years, so it felt great to finally get the opportunity. The weather and the water was perfect. The days were sunny and warm -- and we stayed dry the whole trip -- and the gauge in Blackville read 1.5. Most of the rocks were covered and we glided right over. We only ran into one other group over the course of the weekend.
We camped just below Burnt Hill on night one and at Trout Brook on night two. Having now completed the trip, I can see why people go back time and time again, it's a fantastic trip with something for everyone. Maybe next time we'll actually go to Trout Brook falls...
The main thing to watch out for here is the Burnt Hill Rapids, there were some large standing waves here that we had some trouble with.
