A nice 3 night-4 day route. Start at Smoke L. access, and go south over 2 fairly steep, but short portages into Ragged, then Big Porcupine. There are some nice sites for camping here. Next day, head through Bonnechere, Phipps, Kirkwood, Pardee & Harness Lakes. The portages are all short (under 200 meters) except for the 715 Kirkwood-Pardee portage. Camp on Harnesss, or continue to Head to camp there. From Head, you have the longest portage (1640m) into Cache Lake. This portage is fairly flat, so don`t be fooled by the length, it`s not that bad! Go through Cache Lake into Tanamakoon, Sheriff Pond then Little Island Lake where you can camp for the last night. Next day you have 2 carries through Kootchie Lake then to Smoke Lake to end.
I`ve done this loop a few times as a supervisor with school groups and its always been a great trip. You can make it a fast 3 day trip, or come out on Cache Lake to add some variety to the loop
