Route Description
Technical Guide:

I hope this information is useful to anyone who wants to know how to access several beautiful lakes. The Temagami maps do not indicate Day Use areas or boat launches, so I have explored some of the area and am passing this on. I wish I would have had this information at the beginning of the season. When I learn more, I will add to this list.

- Thieving Bear Lake & Red Squirrel Lake (take Red Squirrel Road, public launches right at lakes)
- Net Lake (North East - put in at Community Centre - Temagami North Road)
- Cassels Lake (North West - put in - turn at train station O'Connor, next left at Stevens, turns into Fox Run, about 4 km down to public boat launch)
- Net Lake (North West - put in at picnic area just off the highway)
- Montreal River (North from Mowat's Landing)
- Cassels Lake (South) to Rabbit Lake (one way) - put in - turn at train station O'Connor, next left at Stevens, turns into Fox Run, about 4 km down to public boat launch) - take out about 6 km down Rabbit Lake Road (public launch is where there is a big opening on the left, like trailers sometimes park there)
- Herridge Lake (put in at boat launch 5740 Hwy. 11 N - look for road marker to turn off highway)
- Angus Lake & Jumping Caribou Lake (put in right off bank on Hwy. 11 at snowplow turnaround - 20 meter portage at Southwest end of Angus Lake). Another possibility to avoid small portage and just do Jumping Caribou Lake is to take Tonomo Road up until you see the lake, then park on the shoulder under the pine trees.
- James Lake (put in at old Scandia Inn right off the highway - south side of inn makes for easy launch)
- Friday Lake (put in - 9.7 km down Rossevelt Road, just south of Rib Lake South Road - there is a map of the lake and a sign for Ottawa Temiskaming hiking trail on left, turn left to boat launch immediately after sign)
- Waha Lake & Ingall Lake (put in - take Wilson Lake Road to the bridge at Waha Lake, steep hill to put a boat trailer down, but easy to launch a kayak/canoe - park across the road in empty field)
- Rib Lake (put in - take Rib Lake South Road to the boat launch - could portage to Cliff Lake. Portage is across the lake from Bay-Lee-Mac Camp, not easy to find, but look for smooth rocks just beyond a rock point. Should be a small Canadian flag to mark portage)
- Lake Temagami - Northeast Arm (put in at Temagami Welcome Centre in the village of Temagami - day parking there, but overnight is in front of recycling depot on O'Connor Drive by the train station)

Edited June 17 2013 to add more day routes.

- Lowell Lake (put in - just over 1 km down Lowell Lake Road, you'll see the lake. Park off to the side under the big pine trees and easily put in off the bank)
- MacLean Lake and south Anima-Nipissing (put in - 19 km down Red Squirrel Road, MacLean Lake on left - no portages, just a shallow narrow rock cut to paddle through.
- Ferguson Bay - north part of Lake Temagami (put in 27 km down Red Squirrel Road - once you pass Red Squirrel Lake and you come to a fork in the road, turn left following Camp Wanapitae sign, then 2 km later take left at the fork, then immediate right to public access parking. Do not take a car to the 2nd parking area closer to the water, but an SUV or pickup truck would be fine. 750 m to beautiful, huge, sandy beach and launch)
- Wicksteed Lake (put in - off Marten Lake Road, after 2nd bridge, take the narrow road on the first left to the boat launch/dam)
- Kokoko Lake (Lake Temagami) - (put in at Temagami Access boat launch - take Temagami Access Road - at the boat launch, use the Manito Launch which is less busy and is especially for canoers and kayakers. There is a 120 m portage from Kokoko Bay to Kokoko Lake)
- Shiningwood Bay (Lake Temagami) - (put in at Temagami Access boat launch - take Temagami Access Road
- Tilden Lake (put in at the dam - take Tilden Lake Road 0.5 km, first right after Arnold Road, narrow bush road down to dam)

Thank you very much. You helped me revive a childhood canoe route that we lost when a friends property was sold.
