Trip Journal/Log/Report/Diary:

Surprisingly, after timing ourselves,we paddled the first section around 45 minutes with a headwind.Angela familiarized herself with my 90 litre pack and re-adjusted all the straps for the next portages. Big Bob Lake`s beach was a surprise - failed to notice on an earlier Spring trip to Gibson Lake. We chose not to do the whole trip out in one day so as not to enjoy the scenery, and were glad we did. Angela really liked this trip. A great way to break her into the rigours of portaging and roughing it! Wait till we do Dixon, Ange! just kidding ... hehehe

Special Comments:

Tim River Access point #2 was easy to find off of Forestry Tower R.D.,but it can be bumpy in the Spring. This Access can look busy at times but don`t worry.T he river and Tim Lake are scenic. The portage to Chibiabos is located across from the NW side of the island in Tim Lake First portage is moderate - not too hardTake-Out at N. side of Chibiabos is a bit mucky, more bugs too (this lake has 1 Campsite- nice)The second portage is an easier, although similar distance. Indian Pipe is nice as well, although no campsite to be seen. A lot of moose sign around. Both of the next two portages are both more than 2X the distance of each of the 1st two, but all about the same intensity. All well maintained,a couple of rocky, steep parts. This was August so no slippery sections now.Big Bob is a lake with a Westward view for sunsets and sand beach at 1 of 3 campsites.Take-Out at Big Bob is Rocky. The 200m portage to Nipissing River is close by the East campsiteFriendly loons, many Waxwing birds here! More moose signThis Day`s workout was moderate for being my Girlfriend Angela`s first interior camping trip. We stayed for 2 nights, then headed out to stay at one of the seven sites on Tim Lake for the third night. This gave her more relaxing time for swimming because the fishing sucked! Too hot!We explored beautiful, Tim lake and chose a SE side campsite on a hill. Many tent pads here. Nice view and trails around. Checked out the Shawsha Lake Portage(295m) Very steep up to this small lake, big Pines though. Our paddle out the next day was easy across Tim lake and back along the river with the wind behind us. Overall a good trip, would recommend it to any novice for the `Park feel` Probably nice here in Autumn.
