Route Description
Technical Guide:

This is a nice easy paddle down a section of the York River near Bancroft. The put in is at the fire station on South Baptiste Road just north of town. The put in is about a 400m-ish portage from the parking lot to the river. There are a couple of take out options, You could paddle down to Sparrow Park (close to Tim Hortons), Millenium Park (the north end of downtown)or Riverside Park (near the post office right downtown) This is a very easy paddle, there are a lot of trees/logs in the river to avoid but it is easy and there is a lot of room.

Another short paddle up stream from the put in would take you to a Dam.

Trip Journal/Log/Report/Diary:

After a short work day I decided to explore one of the gems in my backyard. This was a 3 hour trip as I took my time and took some pictures. I put in at the fire station and took out at the Sparrow Park just south of Canadian Tire. See my pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/jaysurgent/PaddleDownTheYork

Special Comments:

The current makes this an easy paddle. The river is very winding and although it is about a 5-10 min drive from put in to take out, the paddle is about 2-3 hours. The current could also be really fast in the spring.
