Newfoundland Routes, South

Definition of the South region. Cape St Mary’s west to Channel - Port aux Basques.
Content. Both Inland and Coastal Routes.
List of subregions. Placentia Bay, Fortune Bay, Hermitage Bay, West.
Specific inclusions. Clockwise (east to west) sort: Cape St Mary’s, Placentia Bay, Burin Peninsula, Fortune Bay, Hermitage Bay, Bay d'Espoir, Burgeo, Channel - Port aux Basques.
Specific exclusions.Trepassey Bay and St Mary’s Bay.

Ed notes:
1. This post exceeded 60,000 characters and had to be split; the link to its continuation is posted below.
2. “South” is not to be taken literally. Out of respect for Kayak Newfoundland and Labrador and its choice of regions, I use Cape St Mary’s (rather than Cape Freels or Mistaken Point) as the eastern boundary of the South region. In this way, Avalon Routes are kept together, except for those on or into the west coast of the Avalon Peninsula.
3. This choice keeps Routes on Placentia Bay together. Adopting the KNL regions would split them between the Central and Eastern regions.

South region, Coastal Routes

Caution.
Those of us with a background in lake and river paddling, even those comfortable in big water, might reflect on whether we possess the knowledge, equipment and skills necessary to deal with the very different hazards associated with coastal paddling. A course or a guided trip might be a good idea before attempting any of the coastal Routes described in the links given below.
From what I've read, every responsible paddler carries a VHF radio and is well versed in its operation.
