I am looking for a 3 to 5 day white water canoe trip to do in Newfoundland. Ideally, it would be great if it was on the island and around the gander area but really anywhere from St. Johns to Corner Brook would be fine.
Thanks

Exploits River is the only one I know about. It might be hard to to turn this or any NFLD river into a 5 day trip. The rivers are simply not that long.

In June Terra Nova, Bay du Nord, Main and Northwest are all in a good shape for 5 days paddling. Access to all rivers except Main is strictly by plane (about 45 minutes flight from Clarenville area). July and later on are not good time for white water on the island (except, again, Main river in a good year and, sometimes, Terra Nova). However, if you don't mind dragging your canoe along the trickling streams in a total wilderness, you may find good options at eastern part of main island and sometimes even on Avalon peninsula. I did two august trips that way, and was not disappointed (portages are exhausting, though). My main complaint about Newfoundland trips is luck of canoe rental options. Usually you can get only a pretty bitten monster weighting over 100 lbs...
