We decided to go for a quick overnighter after work and try out our new VCS bug tarp. With everything packed and ready, we leave our yard at 6:00 and we launch just after 7:00 on Taltapin Lk.

We had a stiff wind blowing across the lake to begin with. As we made our way down the lake, the wind turned into a great tailwind with small rollers to help push us along!

Beautiful lighting with the timing and conditions.

My paddling puppies!

After an hour of paddling we turn into a bay that has a weir with a great flat area to camp.

With light starting to fade, we set up camp and our new bug tarp. Along with a little Highland dance. :D

Next morning we woke up to a sunny day with a light wind.

Here's stuff that just isn't comfortably possible without our new tarp. :D Breakfast while reading and sitting and enjoying the day.

OK, since we only have one day off, we decide to head back. :(

Until next trip...

Way to go Ted. You needed full-on protection even when paddling! Down here we wimp out if there's bugs. You can always find them if you want to but we generally just wait till they're gone or turn tail and run. You guys know how to deal with them. Good to see you using your homemade gear in your previous post. I like the do-it-yourself initiative.

Hi Ted,
I'm curious about your table. Which one is it? I thought at first maybe the GSI Macro that MEC sells but after looking it up I see that isn't the one. A folding table is something that we're considering adding to our pile of luxury items.
Cheers,
Bryan

I think that one looks like a Canadian Tire or Home Hardware version? I just got one sold by NSR, made by a company in Portland. Very nice but pricy.

Thanks Stencil, you'll see more of it too! We hoping to go camp crazy this year.

Bryan, Aaron's right, it's the Canadian Tire version. $29.99 on sale. Because it's all aluminum, you can use a stove directly on it and critters can't climb it.

If we don't have to pack it too far, it always comes!

Great photos. Love the paddling pooches, lol.

Keep 'em coming, thanks for sharing.
