View topic - Otter Creek // canoeing a gem in Southwest Ontario

This is a river very dear to me. A bit far for a day trip but so worth it.
There are some areas where you need to get out of the canoe but overall is a pleasant experience (at least that's how I remember it )

Big Creek at Port Royale #42 and Catfish Cr at Port Burwell are each a little different and worth doing too.

Went on Big Creek 2 times. I liked this one too.
Where would you start on Catfish Creek?

We used to just go in at the village and go upstream(73 Imperial rd and 24 Dexter Line). Then back.

There used to be about 4 parking spots to the south/east side of the bridge. You might recall the bridge collapsed a couple years ago. It's under reconstruction and fenced off so time will tell what might hopefully reappears. Looks like it should be done in the next few months. Usually there's a decent access but one never knows until we get it -- lets hope eh.

Also, Black Creek (at Port Dover) is a good one and a little closer to you. You probably will not have to deal with blow downs.

Paddle to the north and it is more “woodsy”. Paddling south takes you to the lake, past the back yards and docks of some pretty amazing homes and by the yacht club. This is my favourite, local, day-paddle.
