View topic - 8 Day Route in Alberta/BC

Last year, my brother his girlfriend and I set off on our first canoe trip in Canada through Algonquin park (Canoe - Big Trout and back over 6 days - we had planned a bigger loop, but fate had other plans! ).

As this forum was an invaluable resource in planning what turned out to be a fantastic trip, with the thought of another adventure in our mind, we thought we'd come back here to get some advice.

So, first things first, we're planning the trip for the beginning of September, and are thinking of heading west this time, into Alberta/BC, for an 8 day trip. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where we should start looking?

For Alberta, get hold of Mark's Guide for Alberta Paddlers; it's for sale at the Alberta Recreational Paddling Association.
For BC, the best source I know of is Jack Wainwright's "Canoe Trips, British Columbia"; it's from 1994 though. People here can come up with other books.
In general, recommendations can't be made independent of knowledge of your skills and experience. Your best bet is to read a lot, assess yourself and your companions critically (Mark's book has a dandy self-assessment scheme), then come back with questions on specific Routes.

When?
Lake or River?
Remote or accessible?
Mountains, Parkland, or Prairies?
Hiking or just hard paddling?
Wildlife or scenery?
