When we did this trip maybe 10 years ago we left our vehicle at the put in and nemeiben lake and then just hitch hiked back from otter rapids. We probably did this 7 or 8 times without a problem. We are considering doing this trip again this summer, is it no longer safe to leave a vehicle?

As far as I know, that aspect hasn't changed in the last decade. I haven't left a vehicle at Nemeiben, but have at other places (Devil Lake, for instance) without too much worry.
