Thanks David. The more I look at the maps and satellite imagery, the more interested I am. And, the more I read about the history of the area, the more interested I am.

Tonight I came across this from Jason Schoonover, which contains some information about paddling and looking for pictographs on Reindeer: http://www.jasonschoonover.com/2016/10/ ... xpedition/

Cheers,
Bryan

My wife and I plus my dog Sandy are planning to sail around Reindeer Lake this coming summer. We plan to leave vehicle at Kinoosao, Sask and head out to some Islands.

Greetings David,
Did you do the trip? Any feedback/suggestions/photos?

Bryan,
That find from the explorer's club was certainly a great read! Did you manage to do your Reindeer Lake paddling? Any feedback/suggestions/photos?

I've revived this thread as my wife and are also interested in paddling Reindeer Lake. Ever since we first learned of reindeer at an outdoor show in Calgary. We too heard the story of the coastal paddlers who come here to the lake regularly.

Not sure if we can do ten days or a full two weeks, but we're thinking of paddling the eastern side of the lake. Stick to Numabin Bay see if we can get to the top end of this arm in a couple days (65km). Theres a 1300m distance between Reindeer and Nokomis Lake, with some interesting man made cuts visible on Google Maps.

If we can portage that, I suspect there would be some interesting fishing. If not, we head back south and travel west into Stackhouse and Creswell Bays, on the way home.

We are more interested in the camping and fishing than achieving some distance or following a historical route. That said, I'd love to get over to some other waters, or do some part of the Churchill in the future!

Any comments suggestions, experiences gratefully accepted.
