Hey all, I've got all my ducks lined up for our mclennan lake trip coming up. I usually stay the night before the trip at the otter rapids campground. This is still 50 km from bears camp, so I was wondering if there were decent (as nice as otter rapids) campgrounds closer to there?

I have never been to the Otter Rapids campground, so I don't know how it compares, but if all you are seeking is a decent place to camp for a night prior to setting off from the ramp near Bears Camp, you can go to the Cratty Lake put-in, which is 4kms past (east) of Bears Camp on the south side of the same road.

No facilities other than vehicle access, several places to set up tents, a dock on Cratty Lake, and reasonable amount of firewood in the bush nearby. Free, easy access, level well drained open areas of ground, and close to Bears Camp. It works well for me. Cheers.

I can't sleep and I just came back from French Lake today, so am getting caught up on some of the Sask Discussions on the forum. I would concur with the above. The Cratty Lake put-in is actually a very decent roadside camping area. We've used that for the starting point of a couple of trips and stayed the night there prior to launch.
