Does anyone know first hand if Hanson's creek in the Whiteshell is open yet? I would love to paddle to the first portage with my wife for lunch on sunday. I realize its worth the drive to check it out anyways. Thank you

Not familiar with Hanson's but I expect that most rivers/creeks would be open by Sunday. The lakes not far behind. Some of the rivers a little further north have opened.

Hanson Creek, off Hwy 44, in the Whiteshell.

Waterways are opening. If there is any flow out of the lake into the creek, that will certainly help. With temperatures above freezing for 24 hours a day paired with the hotter sun rays during the day, even the marsh sections are melting fast. If it is open, it's probably most recent. This weekend would be the first weekend. Let us know what you find...

Have you already checked it out? Is it open?

The creek is certainly open. There were posts with pictures to the first portage the other day.
