Only 3 hours from Montreal. I've done about 8 trips there, mostly winter but 2 summer ones.

Excellent photographs! We live just south of the park - takes less than 2 hours to get to the welcome center at Le Domaine. We always take a spring trip and often a fall trip (thus avoiding lots of people) and have made about a dozen trips so far as a couple. Your photos bring back memories at this time of year for sure. I recognize some of the sites. And possibly some of the birds are the same ones we saw!!

I am currently using a Canon S5 is. It's somewhere between a point and shoot and an SLR (it kinda looks like an SLR, though the lens is attached. Apparently the "new and improved" version is the Canon SX10is. Whenever possible I shot using a tripod, even when shooting from my canoe. I don't know a lot about photography and much of the time I was just using the automatic setting. I pushed the little macro button when I was trying to do close ups. I often used the timer to reduce any shake from touching the gadget while it was taking a photograph. Sometimes I took photographs with and without a flash and then decided which I liked better later.

So I'm no professional photographer. I just took time to set up the shots when I had the opportunity to do so, and I seem to have a good eye for composition. Traveling solo gives me the privilege of stopping (or even backtracking) whenever I want to. Some friends are urging me to print and show some of my pics in a local gallery. I think if I could sell a few I would try to upgrade to a better piece of equipment. What I missed most often was the option of a wide angle shot, though the 12x zoom did enable me to get a few shots that I otherwise would not have been able to capture.
