I'm heading out for my paddle down the full length of the George River.

We will be flying from Schefferville to the headwaters in Lac Janniere on July 13th and then paddling the 600+km to Ungava Bay. If all goes as planned we will finish in Kangiqsualujjuaq on August 11th.

You can follow along via Live Tracking and see a map of our route here:

Recped - if you leave behind any chocolate bars like you did the year we followed you down the De PAs, we will be coming right behind you to pick them up! We arrive Kang Aug 14 after starting at Twin Rivers July 23 - a leisurely trip for these grandparents again. You womn't get this until you get back - but hope you have/had a great trip.

Recped: It was good to meet you and what a great and whimsical surprise to find the chocolate bar when we reached the end of the portaqe! Strangely - there were two other solo canoeists just leaving the beach as we came into sight - they must have arrived the night before - wonder if you saw them. We reached Kang the evening of Aug 11 (Day 20 instead of our planned 23 days) and will catch our flight Monday. Wouldn't you know, the last 3 days waiting in Kang have been sunny and very warm! The Germans are supposed to arrive today according to J-G Aubin.

Let us know where you're going next year so we can search the portage trails behind you!

I'm back and somewhat recovered!

Another great trip and in some ways the most challenging to date.

It's going to take quite some time to sort out my notes and get a proper report completed.

I'll be posting at least a few pictures and some brief details over the next couple of weeks and I'll post here when my site has been updated.

There are currently two working titles for the report.....

Dumb & Dumber Go Paddling

or

Never Say Never Again (again)

I'll leave you guessing for the moment but I'm happy to say that we arrived at the finish within an hour of our planned time and arrived home only 15 minutes later than the time I had predicted months ago. In between the start and finish there were a few things that were definitely not part of the original plan.

One more thing, the following phrase should never be said.....

"That will never happen to me"
