This is a place you should look into going.
Grap yourself a beverage and enjoy a visit to Grand Manan New Brunswick!

We're heading to the area in a few days and I've just added Grand Manan to our itinerary ... thanks to your post.

How are the micro streams on the island? Grand Brook seems nice.

I would say that there would be little paddleable areas
As any of the streams are very small unless you where there when there was lots of runoff.
Most of any of the streams I saw had long gravel ripples.
I went over most of them and saw now reasonable places.
The hike from Black harbour up the stream there might be interesting as there are some waterfalls upstream but I image the bushwhack would be pretty tough with no trails.

Jeff mentions the bakery repeatedly.
Sadly it closed as of our visit in 2019
Have to go back as its near home and once was a disputed area due to the Treaty of Paris
Its ours! Well subsequent history did away with that
The Sunset views are of the Maine shore
No fancy dining on the island!
Everyone is friendly even the pizza guy who is from Connecticut!

Jeff where did you launch to see Hole in The Wall.. Hubby scrambled to get an above view.. I fell down a ropes section of the trail ( wet) and retreated.. I would love to see it from the water. We had rough seas our entire week and launch points are appreciated. Return visit hopefully calmer.

The best puffin tours leave from Seal Harbor also. (I have gotten to Eastern Egg Rock in Muscongus Bay here in Maine) but I believe the Seal Harbor tour to be the only one to allow landing on Machias Seal Island ( Machias is in Maine, Machias Seal Island is in Canada.. wondering about covid hoops....)

Paddle access to Hole in the wall is via Whale cove, and the end of Johnston Lane.
There is a cement public boat ramp there and parking.
The paddle west to Ashburton Head is quite nice and scenic, we saw a number of seals and there are a couple of water falls that come of the cliffs there if it has not been too dry. The the currents can be quite strong when the tides are coming in or going out.
The Tide currents at Long Eddy are a site to behold, the sound of the eddy line when the tides are in full speed is pretty amazing and scary from a boating stand point.
The Currents around Fish head are not too bad 1 hr before and after from High or low tide.
The winds off of the Swallow tail light house can be pretty bizarre and very strong.
If conditions are good you can put in at Pettes Cove Beach for a quick paddle out to the light house.

Thanks Jeff! It's nice to get some canoe related threads resurrected. Otherwise not much reason to visit this site.
