Hi there,

most of you will not be on the water anymore I suppose. So I may try to get some food for thought.

Looking at the map it seems there are 2 options to reach Muskox Lake. Any comments when arriving there later in the season - lets say last week of August? Is it A or B?

I'm on my iPhone, a little device so I will not comment on the best route.

In the past when faced with such a decision I'd figure out the number of portages and distances and compare the two routes.

Once close I'd use the current water levels to help decide if the streams would be paddle or portage. I find google earth reflects more water in streams than rock, which is not always the case in person.

Another consideration is the portaging terrain. Esker and rock outcrops can be good for walking. Avoid the moist and growth areas near the small watercourses and streams.

You should be able to source which routes others have travelled although that doesn't mean you should follow them.
