The falls in McCreadie book and shown under the Back River description is really located on the Tree River Nunavut- 67.181, 112.337. Found it in one of the Canadian geological survey sites. Here's a thread on the Tree River:

The Tree stub at Wikipedia is not so informative (Hmm; is that why it's called a stub?):
