I received these pics by email of : Norbert Rosing's striking images of a wild polar bear coming upon tethered sled dogs in the wilds of Canada 's Hudson Bay.

My first reaction was that they were fake but apparently not.

Those are great pictures.

I think they could very well be genuine. Years ago, there was a presentation at the Wilderness and Canoeing Symposium by a breeder of Canadian Eskimo dogs from Churchill, Manitoba, whose photos documented similar friendly and playful behaviour between his dogs and polar bears - the result I think of a lot of socialization work and "refereeing" on his part.

Just found the reference: 1999 Symposium, the fellow's name was Brian Ladoon.

It's amazing to see such historic enemies coexisting like that.

Maybe there's hope for the off-topic forum yet . . .

Very possible it could be polar bears playing with sled dogs. However, my mama always used to tell me not to play with my food. I wander if that bears mama did the same?
