when I was there, there was most of a picnic table on the landing as well. Not sure if it is still there.
I will try and dig up the waypoints for you later tonight.

I believe when I was there the picnic table was slightly farther back - in the camping area. But it has been a while.

A post I wrote up on the Beckwith Cabins - and nearby Ogoki Lodge - has a map of Whitewater Lake and shows the general location of the cabins on the island.

Unfortunately, I cannot find the GPS tracks for that summer's canoe trip for the exact location but it was pretty easy to find. You land on a nice beach area - the very beach where Beckwith died in 1980 - and walk through a large camping area on a trail up to the cabins tucked away in the woods.

BTW - the Ogoki Lodge complex is also worth a visit. Like the cabins it is in a state of decline.

This is perfect. Points on the map is all I was looking for.

Sorry it took me so long but I finally got to the computer with my GPS tracks on it.
Latitude 50°46'9.29"N
Longitude 89° 9'19.25"W

Standard disclaimers apply about information over the internet but I pulled these numbers from my track and so far, the GPS has not got me lost.

You will see a sandy beach as you travel South down Best Island, keep going around the little point you see and look for the rock landing and you are there.

Here is the only picture I have of the landing and that is the little point I mentioned.
As you can see there was not much left of the picnic table when I was there.

I second what True_North said about the Ogoki Lodge, another neat place to explore and also a great place to stop for lunch.

@True_North I have noticed that other people have also mentioned landing at the nice beach, did I miss something?

OK was it just me or were the links to the photographs not working?
Because I did nothing.

Rob H - I looked at your post on the 29th - the date the free Photobucket hosting service apparently ended - and noticed the "update your account..." message but did not yet understand the reason.

When I click on the message I do get to see the images - but only after I disable my ad blocker apps!

Weird how some photobucket images are no longer visible but others still are!

Re: the beach. We definitely paddled up to the beach and walked up to the site. You mention a sandy beach in your comment up above. That may be it!
