Acadia National Park tells you where to go. And how. 8)

I really think as a community we need to address the issue so the general users that are not connected to any groups understand their impact on what they are doing.
This is the 2nd. story this week I have heard similar that it is garbage or human faeces .
There are many here who have encountered these problems in their favourite areas.
Yeah I know this is a private land access issue but these problems are just going to get worse if not addressed.
For areas like the one Joel services if people knew that there was a program that they could donate directly to that goes towards these issues I think people would be more apt to donate.
For Crown land users if the knowledge was much more easily accessible to new/uneducated users.
Like many of our other issues we seem to have a scattered approach.
Food for thought,

jedi, your first link was very interesting to me because while vacationing in that area and running the river, I saw that road and the backside of the beach peninsula. This is a link to a blog I posted on Song of the Paddle, and while I'm sure it is lacking at times in relevance or accuracy, some may find it provides context.

When solo desert camping, I used rugged welding tube containers and coffee filters to obey the BLM requirement that if you poop out, you pack it out.

I was going to post a bunch of pics of my creations, but this sizing thing on this site, and only this site, is quite a pain in the derriere. Much more than a well made thunder box, those are pleasant on the derriere.

Hey Rob!
Just post a link to the pics on another site.
Yes the sizing thing and posting them is a pain.
Would love to see them so we can share!
It seems the interest in keeping our crown spaces clean is picking up a bit which is a great thing.

Hi everybody

What is the general rule as to how far the TB should be set back from a water body?

I believe it is 100 feet.

I have done a few thunderbox carry in's over the years to some sites that were in bad shape that I thought were great sites otherwise. I get my toilet seat/lids from the discarded toilets sitting on the curb on garbage day. They are free and 90% of the time still in new condition, it is just someone swapping out the builder toilet for a better brand and there is no wear at all. Works great and saves a few bucks keeping the overall cost down. Great to see this initiative trying to expand.
