I ran across this yesterday -- my musical effort to say "Thanks" to GL at the Symposium last year.

I didn't realize it had been recorded and posted so well.

Hey Dave,
Great YouTube video of the two songs you performed at WCA... great job on the songs... Also, looks like you got a new 'axe'... from what I could tell a "dreadnought" Larrivee...am I right.... what model??
Cheers,
Al

Hi Al,

Yes, I went to L and MQ in Toronto with a couple of Gift Certificates, and walked out with that. It has a lovely tone. As I strummed the various guitars on the wall there, it was a real stand-out. It boomed. Sorry, I don't know the model by heart.

I put that L. R. Baggs pick-up in it (recommended by Larrivee I believe) and was so impressed that I retrofitted my Simon and Patrick with one that goes under the bridge. Great sound with both, and hot enough that you don't need a pre-amp.

I've played a few solo concerts with it lately -- it's a better instrument than I am.

Dave

Hey Dave,
Good to hear from you... glad you like the new axe and found pick-ups that work for you... I bought my Larrivee (an LV-05E) at the L & McQ on Ossington & Bloor almost 13 year ago... I tried a lot of guitars and like you it was my favourite so I had to have it... enjoy and keep on pickin' and singin'... hopefully we'll connect again sometime..
Cheers,

Thank you for sharing this Dave. That was excellent, I really enjoyed it. If you are ever coming through Saskatoon, I host house concerts once in a while and would love to have you stop for a visit and play some songs. Maybe people here have met Kate Weekes who played also at the WCS (I think) a couple of years ago, she's done 2 concerts for us now and I consider her a friend.
Cheers,
Bryan
