Anyone know where in Canada I can buy the nylon or Dacron fabric to make a skin for a kayak?

You might want to check with this fellow: http://www.madekayaks.com/

But I'm pretty sure he orders his supplies from http://www.skinboats.org/

Cheers,
Bryan

I couldn't find thick enough Dacron on there. Needs to be 8oz I think and they only have the thinner 3oz?

It's in the US though. Might get away without duty at the border but is there really no-one in Canada doing this?

I'm not in Canada but I have about 19' of ballistics nylon and 2 part coating from skin boats that I bought about 6 years ago and have never used. The nylon should be fine, I've never even unpackaged it. Not sure about the shelf life of the coating.

I bought them for an 18' SOF canoe project that never came to fruition. I'm happy building strippers now and don't see myself ever having a use for the nylon. If interested make me an offer and I'll look into shipping costs.

Anything made in the US is duty free under NAFTA. Shipping brokerage can be the killer.
I have seen builders use 3.3 oz Ceconite on SOF boats. Platt Monfort uses the same.
If you want you can double skin it.

My signature boat is covered in 3.3 oz Ceconite.. but it is not a SOF boat.
