Has anyone else been sending emails to this seller of the $800 Kevlar near Peterborough?

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-canoe-kayak-pad ... nFlag=true

Wow what a saucy person on the other end! If you click on the link to show the seller's other ads they posted it about a dozen times in a bunch of different areas.

I contacted them and in my 2nd email asked if there were any patches. They replied "look at the picture". So go back and say "yes, that's why I am asking because the picture looks like there are a few patches but it is hard to tell" and they come back with "it is sold". Less than an hour after posting. That has to be a new record for Peterborough.

So this morning out of curiosity I decide to ask about it using one of my other email accounts. Man oh man - just as saucy! I ask about patches and she says "sorry, serious buyers only"

Anyway, looks like a good deal even with patches, but with an attitude like that be careful if you are the one going to pick this up. Wow!

Saw this one, but didn't post it here because I couldn't identify the maker and also because I get annoyed with people who flood kijiji with the same ad. Sounds like my annoyance was justified.

Usually, when you have a situation like that, it is one of these things going on:

- It's a scam. The poster is counting on a low price for an exotic item to get a buyer excited enough to call and say "I'll take it. Yes, I'll agree to put a deposit on it via some form of e-transfer right now to lock in the deal and then come get it". Of course when the buyer shows up, there is no seller at the address given, and the e-transferred money has been long gone.

- The item is badly damaged in some way not obvious in the photos

- The seller does not really want to sell the item, but the spouse has said "sell it", so the seller places the ad but does everything possible to impede an actual sale, and tells spouse "See, I tried, but no one is interested enough to come out to even see it".

There are many variants on the above scenarios . . .

Yeah I am left wondering what is actually going on here. I just got another very toxic email when asking about patches.

"you clueless idiot , don't even know what a patch looks like ? Grow a brain !!"

If you are up for some more abuse, maybe try asking if the gunwales are straight.

Always something going on. Was that the white one (ad in Gatineau that just vanished) that looks like an older Scott?

Had a neighbour with an RV ad like that - nice unit asking 1/3 the going price. Advertised all over Ontario, FS in Halifax, seller in England. Long sad story about having to sell, wanting e-transfer of downpayment. I asked if the address was where the map showed, that we would be over in an hour to check it out, and the ad vanished from all cities in 15-20 minutes. ROFL

"Hmm... Apparently this page no longer exists."
And I didn't get to ask him any questions, like would you like to trade? can you give ME a down payment on the trade, etc. ;)

Odyssey, you betchya! Kijiji trolls are everywhere, especially in the powertool category. Kijiji reporting does nothing about it btw. I get trolled all the time on Kijiji but its to be expected nowadays. I don't know why they do it, its a super sad hobby when your goal is to bother people.
