I have written and erased several messages in response to this. Trying hard to remain positive. The video shows people completely unprepared for the trip. It seems sometimes we are much more focused on our audience than the trip itself.
It is so easy to be prepared for trips now-a-days.
I must admit it got to my "goat" a little bit on how it was presented.
The comments to my comments on the you tube site confirmed what I thought.
Our love of paddling deserves much more respect than what was shown.
Every time there is an "incident" the whole paddle sport comes under scrutiny on what can make it safer.
And those that have been involved in access issues really get this.
I took my son just before he was 2 years old in 1989 down this stretch,
My bigger concern and that of may people that I paddled with at the time was not me running the rapids, but of possible critter interactions (bears where active that year)
I constantly urge beginners to get at least basic instruction and to practice these skills.
Many of us here have done this a long time and we have all made mistakes, but we all share our mistakes in hoping someone else learns from our experience.
So comments in the "positive"

on what they did is good.
At least for the many others that wish to take up this amazing activity!
