Hi folks,

Of course you can do a lot worse than Bill Mason's videos from 1977 - in many regards they are still the best that are out there.

Paul Mason has a youtube channel that has a lot of videos that would be really excellent if they were not such low resolution and poor quality video.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWd1Mx ... zty7UcrXQg

He also did some videos for a series by Old Towne Canoe which suffers from the same problem - they would be far better if the resolution were there.

In general I find Paul a better instructor and he has more descriptive detail than his father did, but damned if you can actually see the finer points of what he is doing!

Does anyone have some other video series they can recommend?

Thanks

Message Paul and see if he has better quality he can up load to a cloud account that you can use from there.
I like his video also and send people to look at them all the time.
Here is his facebook page

Also Andrew Westwood is one of the best technical paddlers I have seen in my 51 years of paddling.
And that includes some of best in the world I raced with.
He has some new vids out

Thanks Jeff. And OMG I just realized that Paul and Becky both teach courses here in the Ottawa area on a regular basis! And they are very reasonably priced!

Hi,

Also check out NFB and Bill Mason's videos - he has 4 on techniques. Below is the one of them.

Traditional Flatwater Canoeing by Caleb Davis

It is also a good model for instructors to learn how to teach.

Prospector,
You mentioned both Paul and Becky Mason teaching paddling in Ottawa area- I'm assuming you know Becky's instructional videos?

Lots of her paddling on youtube, too.

Andrew's also a terrific instructor. I took his classes some 15 years ago and can still remember them vividly.
