View topic - Where to buy food grade barrels near Huntsville?

Husband wants to salt some cabbage and I don't want him to use our canoeing barrel!!!

A large food-grade plastic pail might do... I know sauerkraut at the deli is shipped in those and people are making sauerkraut that way on google. Some white plastic pails aren't food-grade, like at Home Depot, so I'd go with a pail that's actually been used for food... those with smelly stuff like pickled herring wouldn't be suitable. I got some nice pails from bulk food places, no odor (almond butter) and free.

You try one of those places that see wine and beer making kits. Frequently, the first stage of fermentation takes place in a plastic pail with a lid.

I used to get 20l grey metal pails from the Harvey's local restaurant since they used to get
their pickles delivered in them
Food grade and basically brand new with a reusable lid , even better then plastic for my intended use

Just in case anyone is looking there for canoe barrels, unfortunately the smallest barrel with open lid is 30 gallons (136L) haha. Fits a fair amount of salted cabbage!!!
