Someone emailed me yesterday
q:" is your dog camping with you?"
Me: "no we're both at home, why?"
q: "I was worried about the forest fires"

So the person was worried that the dog was with me in a fire zone but not worried about me...... :o

This interactive map looks similar but covers more area and has more overlays useful in trip planning. The fire history really shows what the timber age will be on a route.

Another map that provides some historical context - it goes back to the year 2000 - is the one found here - ... bal-forest

For example, check out the French River delta for the reach of the Henvey Inlet Fire of 2018. In theData Products window, scroll down to Forest Loss Year Transparent for the best viewing option!

I see that the hazard is listed as extreme for the French River, for e.g., but there is no fire ban according to their website. Puzzling

I'm not sure when it changed, but this evening the fire rating was classified as "moderate" between Georgian Bay and the west edge of Lake Nipissing, then "high" as far as 50km east of Mattawa & Bracebridge where it is "extreme".
