Years ago someone presented on this at the Symposium and I got his book at my library.

I can’t recall any other details but a local wants to get into it so I hoped I could track down the author or the book.

One of Harry Rock's books? I think there are two, both with "Canoe Poling" in the name

Jonny, not a book but ...if you haven't already looked, there are loads of useful videos on poling on Youtube.

The one by Adam Shoalts will get you started - if you haven't looked at them all already...

And here are more to look at - https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... noe+poling

Also perhaps "Beyond the Paddle" by Garrett Conover. It looks at both poling and "ice" techniques from perhaps a more traditional perspective than Harry Rock.

Thats gonna be tough. I can't see border agents accepting poling class as a reason to cross the border!

I will just post this list of useful links and suggest that Kevin Silliker in NB be the most appropriate to contact.

There are many Maine Guides who can teach canoe poling but at the Maine Canoe Symposium Kevins and Rorys and Lisa and Harry Rocks classes were all full.

If you’re looking for some local (as in southern Ontario) support for Poling. Stephen Coutts has been offering courses for a number of years now.

This was the first video that came up when I search for him in YouTube.

Yeah, there is that 'minor obstacle"

Maybe he can float down the Allagash!
