Hello everyone,
I didn't see an "introduce yourself" section, so since I will primarily be doing solo tripping, I thought this would be a good place to do so.
I was born and raised in Kenora Ontario on the Winnipeg River/Lake of the Woods, and currently live in Winnipeg Manitoba.
In my younger years I spent all of my spare time on the water. Even at the tender age of 10 years old I was solo-tripping and camping on the shore or on some unnamed small island, which has always been my preference. Just me in my canoe stocked with nothing but my fishing kit, knife, hatchet, some waterproof matches, snare wire, tarp, and a bit of jerky just in case.
Many years have passed since those days, and years of living in a concrete jungle are making me yearn for solitude, silence, and the sound of the water swirling around wood as I propelled myself closer to a place to reset my soul.
This year marks a milestone (I turn 40 in October), and it occurred to me that my disconnection to nature has become too grand to bear going forward.
After some thought, I reached out to my Father and inquired as to the whereabouts of that old canoe. "Son", he said, "She's been waiting for you all these years, I'll clean her up for you."
So, here I sit planning my solo trip. For 8 days in the mid-July sun in Manitoba, I will be soaking it in without a care to cross my mind other that whats around the next bend in the river.

Welcome!

I'm always happy to hear people rekindling their connection with nature.

Best wishes for many wilderness trips.

Hello Backtothebush. Sounds like you have a good plan. It would be interesting to hear how it all went when you get done your trip if you willing. Have a good trip.
