Snakes aren't on my radar in Killarney, and I've been there countless times. On the Georgian Bay coast just south of the park there are certainly some Rattlers. I almost stepped on one out on Philip Edward Island when setting up my tent. I had to get a stick and "usher" it away, though it took up residence under some roots behind the vestibule. My wife & I took some extra care when walking around the tent, and shook the vestibule and listened for a rattle before reaching in for gear or a pack.

In the park interior I would be surprised if you so much as see a Rattlesnake.

Ughhhh I grew up in snake country around Port Colborne. Rattlers included. We would kill them not just dead but stone dead then cut up the pieces, burn them, dig a hole and bury the ashes. I dont much like snakes, me.

At night the only thing you have to worry about is them crawling out onto rocks to stay warm. They would do that with concrete sidewalks at home. So if you get up to go pee in the middle of the night keep your ears open.

A hammock sounds like a good idea to me.

I think some perspective is needed here on the actual probability of being bitten and probability of loss of life or limb. I'd worry about something worth worrying about like the drive to the put in, spraining an ankle, breaking a bone, dislocating a shoulder, ticks, etc... . I'm speaking for Ontario or Quebec paddling.

I wouldn't worry about it. However if you use your knapsack as a pillow, with trail mix in it, expect chipmunks to climb over your head to get at it.
