Unless this guy has been misquoted, he is no expert. Lake of the Woods drains via the Winnipeg River to Lake Winnipeg and Hudson Bay, and the Rainy River runs into Lake of the Woods. The height of land between the Superior and Hudson Bay drainage is well east of Lake of the Woods.

Unless, of course, I woke up in an alternative reality this morning.
