The Notre Forêt, Notre Avenir are releasing a number of bilingual videos focusing on different areas of forestry in Northern Ontario. "Notre Forêt, Notre Avenir / Our Forest Our Future" is an initiative of the Hearst and Kapuskasing Local Citizen's Committees. These videos may be useful tools for anyone who looking to deliver education on the profession or practice of forestry.

The first one is called "Seeds to Forest".

The third one is called "Summer Operations", and provides a brief view of the different stages of logging operations of today and yester-year.

The 4th video released by the Hearst/Kap LCC is all about winter operations. The experience and pride in their work is very evident. Logging operations in the James Bay lowlands can be much different than in other parts of Canada.

This is the final (6th) video and ties most of the previous videos together. It is entitled Forest Management Planning. I found this series to be very well done, for those who may not be familiar with the management of Ontario's industrial boreal forest, and especially so since it was done from a local (Northern) perspective.

Thanks for the great videos. What we did to nature is very cruel and the worst is people still don't realize how big will be the consequences. When I was in France last summer I couldn't believe my eyes. We visited a forest near and it was more like a dump. All I wanted to buy a house on the French Riviera in nature but believe me city is much more cleaner than that.

It is very important to get the word out to the public about how forestry works. Harvesting creates fire resilience and sequesters carbon in wood products. Replanting is commonly required. We seem to have a generation of people that live in wood houses, have fear of wildfire that think logging is bad. We have a lot of public relations to do.

The 6th was particularly informative and helpful. Thanks for posting this series.
