View topic - KMZ or KML to GPX

Anyone know of a good free converter. The ones I have tried from the net seem to want to load my PC with "bloatware". I found one but it just let me convert 2 files.

On my Mac, GspBabel readily reads and converts KML to gpx. So will Garmin Basecamp. Google earth will convert KML to KMZ. Neither attempts to load anything unwanted to my Mac.

I import them in to CalTopo and then export as a GPX

Thx guys. I have used Basecamp but mine is not working right now. Withe Caltopo it seems to want to download via an app and it gives me choices such as Irfan which cannot open a GPX file.

I downloaded Bable but was having trouble converting KMZ. I guess I should have downloaded as KML from GE. I'll try that.

Just checked and to upload the GPX rather than just save it to a file file you need the additional connection software. This turns out to be GPS Babel!

Hmmm---I don't see where babel accepts KML files either.

I have Windows 10 and Caltopo doesn't seem to access either babal or Gps visualizer, bot of which I have downloaded. On W10 there doesn't seem to be a "Program" folder on the File explorer to which i can diret Caltopo.

Yes it does. I have used it hundreds of times.

I'm using the same as Prospector, I just added the source page to the extension. I've helped a few people at work and when i added the source page they found it easier to follow.
