No worries Corbeau ... though I have to say that there's not been much to get excited about on kijiji lately.

Nope it has been pretty dry, but it typically is this time of year.

Not kijiji ... it's on facebook.

16' Sawyer kevlar (no model name but looks like a lake tripper rather than prospector style). White with kevlar bow and stern strips. Tractor seats .... $750

On the MEC Gearswap (okay, so not kijiji...) but potentially a great deal on a WW canoe in Ottawa:

Starburst for $1,000, fully outfitted:

(not mine...)

What do people think of this? I am going to see it today but am pretty inexperienced in buying canoes. Does it look like a good deal?

Depends. From taking a look at the seats, unless there's a way to move them (which seems tedious) it wouldnt be too cfy of you ever tried solo paddling the canoe as you would face backwards in the canoe. A lot of other prospectors with the the flatter sryle of seat that doesn't contour to your butt would be better if you ever needed/wanted to go for a solo. Sure you could stay on your kness or sit on bottom but the seat wouldn't be comfy.

If you are okay with it being a tandem mostly canoe, then it looks pretty decent for the price. I'd try for $5-$600 though if doable. There aren't really too many great photos of the bottom, but the front looks like there's some repairs done there so that might be worth checking out. The yoke looks okay but you could touch it up if you wanted too.

I'd also want to know the weight too. I don't think that it would be too heavy though seeing as it's Kevlar.

That's just my $0.02 from someone who just went through buying a used (first time) canoe for myself, and another one for someone else on their behalf.

So that Sawyer is super light, around 40 lbs or so. I didn't buy it as the seats were in rough shape and also not the type I want. As well, the hull was punctured and patched and I can't test it out on the water at the moment, so I dont trust it. The bottom of the canoe otherwise was in decent shape.

If it is really 40 lbs and not 50 it might be worth 750 depending upon the damage that was patched, and how well it was patched. Did you get any pictures?

It could've been 50, but I'd put money down it's less. My phone died after getting a pic of the serial number plate so I didn't get one of the damage.

It looked like it had been punctured and was patched with some putty maybe a bit larger than a toonie in diameter. About 2 feet from the front on the right side, under the water line.

I don't know a lot about hull repair and didn't want to take the risk with it for my first canoe.
