I wonder if those folks who have ventured to a Deep Freeze or even several can take a sunny moment to reflect upon the years we went out into the bush and fought the elements and shared some laughs, some orienteering issues, or even if maybe you caught a fish, watched the trains fly by, visited the Crystal Palace, the Logging Camps of days gone by, the Trappers cabin, whatever comes to mind.

Share a moment or more with the folks who haven't gone to a Deep Freeze and let them know in a few short words, what 10 Years of Freezin' has been like.

I'm sure they'll enjoy the good the bad and the ugly truth to camping below zero, so pipe in and lets get people interested in camping this coming February 2011. Deep Freeze - 10 Years Freezin'.

Its never to early to Freeze!

Well where do I begin...... just some quick thoughts
-At the end of my first DF.... asked to consider staying for 8 the next year.
-Taking a 5km walk with mine/others sleds on the tracks.
-Froze my ass of second DF vowing not to return unless I had the proper equipment. Haven't missed one since.
-Sitting on the edge of a lake with a shore fire watching wisher men.
-Eating some of the best meals on a wood stove.
-Sharing time with some really great people who are now friends.

What more could you ask for.

There are so many great things that happen , here is a 2003 moment.

{Scouter Joe}- "Are you ready Georgi!" is all I hear as a shovel passes through the door of our tent

Ready to teach me how to build a Quinzee, I don't think I even had time for Coffee !

It was a defining year, Moe with homemade snowshoes, Bill catching Hot Dog sized fish, Mike S. making Clam Chowder on the ....stand which later became the Thunderbox and Sid as Lead Dog with chainsaw and a sense to stop, step back and setup camp, the day was short and the travel was long for us.

It was a year of firsts and it brings back many great memories of Outdoor Living!

Home is where the Snow is!

There's 2 other photo's of this, one with me on top which I'd love to see again and one with me falling through where I stepped in my candle vent hole.

What's deepfreeze? A place to go camping in the winter with good friends. A place to meet new winter campers. Enjoy the pictures of my fellow attendies[ Andrea and Mike  ]. Travel on the bud car in the winter. Catch a few fish, hike over a few ridges and through some swamps. Chop some wood , haul some water, pull a sled. Try out some new gear every year. See the land in the winter, you can travel places that you can't in the summer. Lots of banter and eating . Just a great time every year. I even had enough encouragement from the group to quit smoking after deepfreeze2006. Thanks Sid, Helene, Mike and Rick. Lots of banter and eating. Staying in Sudbury the day before and after deepfreeze. Just a great place to winter camp in Ontario's near north.
Bill
