Hi there,
We are planning a trip to Kawartha Highlands at the end of July and we have a couple of avid fisher- people in our group. Would like to combine awesome fishing with a great lake for base camping (we are not partiers, so some seclusion would be nice, but not absolutely necessary as we are going mid-week).
Flexible on fish species- we just like to have fish for breakfast. Our one person is big into trout, but again as log as its fun to catch and a few are edible all is good.
Any suggestions of where we should check out?

We went to Serpentine Lake last week and it seems to meet your criteria; it's not as easy to access as most so a certain degree of seclusion is almost guaranteed, especially if you go mid-week. We fished for three days and found bass almost everywhere we tried; we fished the edges of weed beds and had our best luck near the mouth of a stream on the far north shore.
