May I ask why an add titled: Browse 10000 Single Asian Women's Profiles appears frequently at the of pages on the MYCCR forum? Surely this has nothing to do with canoeing?

They are annoying . And usually not relevant!
Discussed this spring.

Pay particular attention to marscanoes response. Those ads generate revenue.

Thanks littleredcanoe!!

Everything I said then still holds just as true now. We have a lot of new things for CCR in the pipeline - some as I already mentioned are coming this Monday & something or somebody has to pay the bills!!

And Google ads are a large source of revenue.

Thank you for the response and I will just ignore them as I have been doing. That is unless something that is of interest to me. I don't think I ever did a search on Single Asian women though, lol

:o

And I am sure those "thousands" would find those that like to go into the wilderness alone just as exciting...

Use Ad blocker and all the ads disappear.

Don't use adblocker, ignore the ads and click on ones that are relevant, throwing a few pennies toward the WCA/MyCCR to support the forum. The all-knowing google search engines know what I've been researching, or the ads sometimes seem to pertain to the content of the thread. I see lots of ads from the tourism agencies of various regions, cameras, gps, etc. Right now there is an ad up top from Tim Hortons. I have no problem encouraging Tim Hortons to contribute to MyCCR by clicking on that ad.

Block the ads if you feel you need to, but know that as already mentioned it can generate revenue for something we support.

Bryan

Funny subject but for the last two days I have been staring at the banner for Couples Resort in Algonquin and thought, finally some relevant advertising and perhaps it will lead to bookings...and who knows I might buy a bug shirt too!

I just paused Ad Blocker and promptly got a pop up for bottled water. Everyone knows I hate the sales of bottled water and have voiced so. Probably Google associates "bottled water" as something I would be interested in..

Is there a way to make the ads associated with CCR more eco friendly? Things that use petroleum products don't make sense.

O wait.. the ATV just arrived on the banner.

Two hours later.. here are the camera lenses.. this is something I WILL enjoy! Lordy, there is my Christmas present!

I don't own a gun. Maybe better that I don't. The Arrowhead bottled water banner is back at 9:30 PM. If I had a gun CCR would not be in my house since I would have aimed the gun at the computer.

The next banner ad is for CSX so I can facilitate transport of those unwanted bottles of water.

I think I might have a winter of amusement trying to outthink Google.!

So quickly I am not amused. Poland Spring is the latest banner ad. Funny how I am planning on meeting them in court.

I regrettably have to enable Adblocker again.

Just an illustration of how the Google linking works. You don't have to like the words associated in the banner ads. Just have to have used a combination of words.

Putting Ad blocker back on.. The latest series of Google supplied ad banners are political( and yes US election based). And I find them offensive.

I much prefer a site without politicism.
