Sigh. . . they edited out the over-equipped and undertrained fire department rescuers' initial attempts with the boat and various other means. I recall thinking when this happened about 4 years ago that even though there were a dozen responders and lots of equipment that the casualty would still be there if there hadn't been a construction site across the creek.

The real lesson learned here (other than the obvious of don't paddle over a low head dam) is to ensure that municipal water rescue units get appropriate training.
