Just PO'ed... Cycling today and had to pass 4 separate pit bulls on a small path that were off the leash. Rang my bell well in advance and these twits managed to get to their dogs and grab them then hang on as they lunged at me when I passed. These dogs are not trained at all. What the hell is wrong with these people?

<begin rant now>

I've had it up to here with poorly trained dogs, crazy dogs with careless owners, dogs running around loose being a menace to anything that moves, little dogs that appear cute at first but then turn out to be vicious killer dog wannabees, dangerous-looking stray dogs that go wild and need to be shot, large dogs terrorizing small dogs, runaway dogs looking for help, dogs that bark all night, stepping in dog poo... and on and on.

- while biking (fast) through Prince Edward County, a big black lab purposely ran under my front wheel and the bike flipped over forward... I was lucky to escape with only some scratches with no face plant on the pavement at high speed.

- hit a dog on the rear end on the highway.

- ran over a dog running around loose on the highway, instant death.

- a large, snarling Rottweiler tried to jump through the open car window, the owner didn't try and stop it.

- "look isn't he cute"... the Yorkie bit me on the face.

- another black lab running loose on a hiking trail jumped up and the nose almost poked my eye out.

- lost beagle caught on a cliff, rescued and anxious in the canoe and car on the return, until the owner picked it up (fortunately phone # on collar).

- very mean-looking wild strays in the woods on my property.

<end rant>

Having said all that, I might be looking for a canoe dog sometime soon.
