I wouldn't want to spred peanut butter with a hook though,
which is the prime utility or the rescue knife.

I went with Blunt, got a McNett. Haven't lost it yet.

But, for me, the bigger issue is single or double edge. I can't imagine having a panic/I'm freezing/this has to work-knife with a double edge. If I have to push or saw with that knife in less than ideal conditions, it had better not cut me. There isn't enough meat on these knives to ensure a proper real handhold so I only want one edge sharp - the one facing away from me.

I had my sail canoe get caught on a submerged net line last summer in weather where I was the only one crazy enough to go out. I wore a leatherman Wave on my belt, and that took too long to get out for my liking. Hence the above mentioned purchase.
