I recently bought a new Esquif Canyon incl. ww outfit. But I'm not realy satisfied with the position of the knee cups. These are not placed far enough into the shines, and in the bow they are not placed at equal distance from the centerline of the boat. Positions of knee cups now seem to prevent adequate boat control / J-lean...
What is the best method to safely remove the knee cups without too much damage to the hull? Can I use acetone on royalex?

I would avoid using acetone on the hull as it's too harsh. Remove the knee pads with a putty knife. Scape what foam you can from the hull with a putty knife or similar. Use contact cement remover and a putty knife to remove the remainder (assuming of course these were attached with contact cement as most would be). This can be a long and tedious process depending on how much contact cement was used.

You don't really have to remove the old glue... The only advantage is aesthetics - just move and glue down again, or save yourself some work and just remove the glue that will show from the knee cups new position.
