Contact Andre at http://www.canoerestigouche.ca/Can be a good run if the water levels are decent. Also a salmon river so there may be fishermen depending on when you go.

We went on Labor Day weekend, 2011. We started at 28 mile pool on the Northwest branch. The roads in off the Stuart Highway are poorly marked and you can get lost in there very easily, we did for several hours. The river was quick, but no rapids at all, except for two short stretches on the main branch on the third (and last) day. Unfortunately, the skies were gray, and we were fogged in the third day, so we missed a lot of the scenery.
Some intrepid folks started up at St. Martin (behind Kedgwick) and did okay, but there were some sweepers and a logging dam to carry around. There is a quarter-mile carry around a fish barrier at ten mile, but if you're lucky, the warden will carry your boats and gear around the barrier on his truck.
This is a fine river if you just want to enjoy tranquillity. If you want to run rapids and dodge rocks, you might look elsewhere.
